THE WORD OF THE LORD TO THE CHURCH
August 2010
By Dr. David R. Wood
We
of Eastern Gate Ministries International extend greetings to our partners
and friends in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This teaching
deals with a Word from the Lord that I received of Him and gave to the
Church in June 2008. He, the Lord, has recently quickened me again to
deliver this Word to the Church. At His instruction I spoke this Word of
the Lord at our home Church on the 4th of July and since then
this Word has been delivered to other Churches and now to the Church at
large via the internet. This is a Word to the Church, not the world. The
world can not fix the problems they face, whether it is here in America or
elsewhere in the world. By the world I am talking about those outside of
the covenant of blood we have in Christ Jesus. The word Church in Scripture
is the Greek word ekklesia. In the ancient Greek government there was a
body called the ekklesia. They were those who were called out from among
the people to rule. They did not make the laws or rules, but they carried
them out. Does all this sound familiar? This is exactly the position and
purpose of the Church. We have orders from God through His Word, and have
been empowered to bring His Word to pass. We do this not just for ourselves
but especially for those around about us. The performance of the Word of
God is a powerful witness to the lost in the world system to whom we are
ambassadors of the Kingdom of God. Just as Adam was instructed to transform
the earth, the world, into a Garden of Eden, so we have the same
instructions. We are now in a dual world system, one being that which is
headed by the devil or the Babylonian system, and the other headed by the
King of kings, the Lord Jesus Christ.
This
Word of the Lord came to me in a time of prayer during June 2008. I
delivered this Word to our Church. Unbeknown to me at the time, this same
or similar Word was being given to others in the body of Christ. Although
heeded by a small group, this Word did not impact the Church at large. This
is what the Lord spoke.
“There is a coming storm”
“The
Church can avert the storm”
“This is not a word that must be”
This
is seemingly a pretty simple and straight forward message. He said there is
a storm coming, and sure enough in October 2008 it broke into full view. In
November 2008, Americans may have elected a government more wicked than any
preceding American government ever placed in power. Americans in general
will not answer for this before God. The Church, especially the pastors,
will answer for a lack of stewardship over this Federalist Republic. The
Church has the Truth and is responsible to teach the Truth. Since the fall
of 2008, the storm has accelerated to a nearly unbelievable rate. The
enemy’s time is short. The people outside the blood covenant of Jesus
Christ know not what they do for they are in the dark. As Christians we are
to forgive our leaders and others for they truly know not what they are
doing. We are to pray for our leaders even if they consider us their
enemies (Matthew 5:44).
1 Timothy 2:1-4 (KJV)
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers,
intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we
may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our
Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the
knowledge of the truth.
We
are to pray for our leaders so “that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life
in all godliness and honesty.” Why? So we can preach the gospel without
hindrance. The enemy wants to shut the Church down. However God can work
through an awake praying Church and change all of this terrible mess.
America can again be the shinning city on a hill that President Ronald
Reagan spoke of; the America that has been a blessing to the whole world,
the America that the pilgrims said would show the glory of God and promote
the Christian faith. America can be that jubilee nation we were created to
be and have been by the Providential Hand of God.
God
made it clear in June 2008 that “The Church can avert the storm.” What
would have been required then in 2008 to avert the storm and now in 2010 to
reverse this storm? An AWAKENING! An awakening to God! Sounds easy enough
but unfortunately then and to this day a large portion of the Church is
sound asleep. Encouragingly however there are signs of life in the Church
at large. What I see is that the predominant voices leading to awakening in
America are not coming from the Church. Pastors, what is your answer? In
the founding era of America there was a Great Awakening just before the
Revolutionary War. Preachers were the major educators of the soon to be
independent American people. A man used mightily of God was a preacher by
the man of George Whitfield. He was reportedly the best know person during
that time. George Whitfield was better known than people like George
Washington, Benjamin Franklin and others. The current awakening is coming
through people like Glenn Beck, Shawn Hannity and many others, while the
Church is a Johnny comes lately. God will use what He must to awaken the
Church and the nation in response to the prayers of His remnant people.
The
Church has become too comfortable with and has participated too freely in
the world system. That Babylonian system is destined to fail just as it did
at the tower of Babel where it had its start. The devils systems always
fail. That is what he does, fail.
John 10:10 (KJV)
10
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to
kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they
might have it more abundantly.
The
Church must reawaken to the knowledge that the Kingdom of God system is far
superior to the world system, and has no basis for failure. Those in the
Church that cling to the world system will get the same harvest as the
people in the world. God is shaking this thing and the world of the devil
is being turned upside down, really upside right. Since the cross, the
devils possession of anything is illegal. The Church has not understood
that they are the legal owners of everything in the earth and are the rulers
of the world systems. God now has a Church which is awakening, a Church
that is arising and a Church that will triumph in the end of days.
Haggai 2:5-9 (KJV)
5
According to the word that I covenanted with
you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye
not.
6
For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is
a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea,
and the dry land;
7
And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all
nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of
hosts.
8
The silver is mine, and the gold is
mine, saith the LORD of hosts.
9
The glory of this latter house shall be greater than
of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace,
saith the LORD of hosts.
Meditate on this passage from Haggai. God has brought us out of Egypt, sin,
and the kingdom of Satan, and gave us a covenant in His blood. When we
awake, He will and is now shaking the nations. The riches of the earth, or
the world system (which they have held illegally), is flowing to the Church
(individual members of the body of Christ). That is you and me, brother and
sister. If you are not awake this will mean nothing to you. It may seem
foolish and detached from reality, when in fact it is the most real,
wonderful good news of Heaven. Notice the phrase “in this place” in verse
nine, that is right here in the earth, not in the sweet by and by.
God
also said “This is not a word that must be”. This means that even though He
spoke the Word, we the Church can avert the storm and bring a peace, just as
Jesus when He said “Peace, be still”
(Mark 4:39). For example in Exodus, God became angry with the Israelites.
He said He would wipe them out, and Moses interceded. This was not a Word
from the Lord that must be since the man, Moses, understood God, had a
relationship with God, changed the course of events. You and I can be a
Moses.
Exodus 32:10 (KJV)
10 Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against
them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.
Exodus 32:14 (KJV)
14 And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto
his people.
On
the other hand there are Words that must be such as the following.
Luke 1:18-20 (AMP)
18
And Zachariah said to the angel, By what shall I know
and be sure of this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well
advanced in years.
19
And the angel replied to him, I am Gabriel. I stand in
the [very] presence of God, and I have been sent to talk to you and to bring
you this good news.
20
Now behold, you will be and will continue to
be silent and not able to speak till the day when these things take place,
because you have not believed what I told you; but my words are of a kind
which will be fulfilled in the appointed and proper time.
In
the month of June 2008 at Prayer Mountain in the Ozarks, Billye Brim was
leading a regular Sunday afternoon prayer service. They were praying about
the upcoming elections. God interrupted that meeting and spoke through
Billye Brim to that group in a powerful way. Paraphrasing, He said that
“the salvation of America was not the elections but an awakening.” Without
knowledge of God, and knowledge that our founding documents are derived from
the Bible, one can not honor God which hinders Him from honoring us, and
thus gives the Devil free reign.
1 Samuel 2:30 (KJV)
30 Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that
thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but
now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will
honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
Between 1906 and 1910 there was a tremendous revival on Azusa Street in Los
Angeles, California. The main figure in that revival was a man by the name
of William Seymour. Another prominent figure was Charles Parham. They both
prophesied, as did others, that there would be another great outpouring of
God in about 100 years; well guess what, we are there. This information is
contained in a book titled “They Told Me Their Stories” by Tommy Welchel.
The following is a quote from the foreword by Billye Brim. “Charles
Parham’s granddaughter told me a few years ago about an amazing prophecy
given through her grandfather. He prophesied that in about 100 years there
would be another great outpouring of the Spirit of God to surpass what
happened in Acts 2, Topeka, and Azusa. As you will read in this book,
William Seymour also gave such a prophesy.”
The
Lord went on to say to me; “God says this is the time!”
He
then reminded me of the following passage which we must receive with all
humility and act upon.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV)
14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall
humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked
ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will
heal their land.
God
is talking to us, the Church. The word “If” that leads off the verse
indicates a choice. But do not be deceived; He will have a Church. The
question is will you and I be that Church? We must humble ourselves to His
Word and nothing else, and act on His Word above and before all
else. God will then have the legal authority or avenue to act through us.
Our wickedness, not the wickedness of the world, is preventing the end time
harvest, wealth transfer and the coming of Christ! Because of our slumber,
our fornication with world, millions are screaming in hell today.
The
Lord then reminded me of Esther.
Esther 4:14 (KJV)
14
For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time,
then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from
another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who
knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
Esther had a choice, to be silent and ride along to get along, or she could
speak up. She chose to speak up, and the Jewish nation was saved. The
Jewish people celebrate Purim to this day in remembrance of her courageous
act and the salvation wrought by God for their benefit. This verse makes it
clear that if we chose to remain asleep and do not act in obedience to the
Word of God, He will raise up others to do the job. We may be saved and go
to Heaven, but the destruction in our house will be no different then that
of the world. You and I, dear brother and sister in Christ Jesus, have
indeed been brought to the Kingdom of God for such as time as this!
The
Lord concluded with this.
“The
Lord says there are a great number of people yet to be saved and I will have
an anointed people to gather the harvest. Will you be that people?”
Consider carefully the following passage, then repent and get busy.
Haggai 1:5-9 (KJV)
5 Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your
ways.
6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not
enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there
is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into
a bag with holes.
7 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
8 Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and
I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.
9 Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when
ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts.
Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his
own house.
Until next time, shalom.
