Greetings:
Welcome to The
The Truth For America . This page will frequently compare the words and actions of various
leaders and persons with the Word of God.
Matthew 12:37 (KJV)
37 For
by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be
condemned.
John 12:48 (KJV)
48
He that rejecteth
me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I
have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
One of the
purposes of this ministry is to be a voice of moral clarity. That clarity
is not my opinion but the Word of God. The Word of God alone is our moral
anchor. There is nothing but shipwreck if you attempt to anchor to anything
else. God said let us reason together. Not that we are to change His mind
but that we can get the mind of God of Christ and adopt it as our own for
therein is safety.
Isaiah 1:18 (KJV)
18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though
your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red
like crimson, they shall be as wool.
HEALTH CARE REFORM
December 2009
IS IT BIBLICAL?
Christmas is past and New Years will be here in a few days. The Senate and
the House of Representatives have now both passed their versions of Health
Care or Health Insurance Reform. In my opinion they are equally bad for they
will ultimately have the effect of bringing health care under the
government. It will increase costs, ration care and destroy the quality of
health care we enjoy today. The question is what does this have to do with
the Bible? Good question. Let me ask you a question. Is there any
reference in Scripture indicating that the government should administer
health care? Short answer is no. In fact God is our healer.
Exodus 15:26 (KJV)
26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the
LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give
ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these
diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am
the LORD that healeth thee.
Psalms 103:2-3 (KJV)
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy
diseases;
1 Peter 2:24 (KJV)
24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree,
that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose
stripes ye were healed.
James 5:14 (KJV)
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the
church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name
of the Lord:
But what if we can not receive our healing from God? When we fail to
receive our healing from God then we must turn to medicine. God has given
us doctors, medicines and the finest technology in the world. Jesus did not
condemn doctors or the fact that they collected fees. Let us look at the
woman with the issue of blood.
Mark 5:25-26 (KJV)
25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent
all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
You see this woman had tried to do what she could do by going to the doctors
but it failed and she spent all of her money in the process. Was health
care a right supplied by the government? Did Jesus condemn the government
or the doctors?
Mark 5:33-34 (KJV)
33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in
her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
34 And he said unto her,
Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy
plague.
So we see that He (Jesus) made no mention of a government obligation, no
mention that she had a right to health care or that the doctors had done her
wrong.
Health care is not a right but a commodity. Let us look at another example
in Scripture.
Luke 10:30-35 (KJV)
30 And Jesus answering said,
A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among
thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and
departed, leaving him half dead.
31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and
when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and
looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was:
and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in
oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and
took care of him.
35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and
gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and
whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
In this case health care was a commodity and was provided due to the charity
of the Samaritan. This is what we call the “Good Samaritan” and many states
have laws called Good Samaritan laws that protect people from lawsuits if
they happen upon someone in distress and help them.
In the account of Asa, king of Judah, when he was diseased in his feet he
sought the physicians. Private physicians, it says nothing about physicians
in his court. If the providing of health care was the responsibility of
government then right here would have been an excellent place to make that
point. Asa was the government.
2 Chronicles 16:12 (KJV)
12 And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased
in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his
disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians.
Let me also remind you that God is not a communist or a socialist. God
instituted the free enterprise system. He demanded that His people use just
weights, that is be fair with one another. He is the author of the profit
motive.
Isaiah 48:17 (KJV)
17 Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel;
I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which
leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.
God is all about increase and win win situations. In business a win win
situation is when the seller makes a good profit and the buyer gets a
quality product.
Leviticus 19:36 (KJV)
36 Just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin,
shall ye have: I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of
the land of Egypt.
From a Biblical prospective I have established that health care is not a
right but a commodity. It is to be supplied through a free enterprise
system and not the government. You do not want the government involved with
your health care. Especially you do not want the government to determine
what is health care, what good health care is, and who gets that care.
Following this are two letters that I have made available to my patients in
my office. You may find them useful. Hopefully, this has provided some
Biblical clarity on the topic of health care.
HEALTHCARE DEBATE
As your physician I want to make it very clear that I am totally opposed to
the current bills being debated before the Senate and House of
Representatives. For the purposes of this message I will focus on the so
called America’s Affordable Health Choice Act – HR 3962. As we consider any
bill before Congress we must ask ourselves a few questions.
1.
Do you
want to destroy our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?
2.
Should the
Federal Government be involved with healthcare at all?
3.
Do you and
I want our medical care rationed?
4.
Do we want
to destroy a system that has produced the best medicine in the world?
5.
Do we want
to add over a trillion dollars to the national debt?
EIGHT REASONS TO OPPOSE HR 3200 (NOW 3962)
(Abstracted from Liberty Counsel’s Website [www.LC.org])
1.
Abortion
funding, this alone is sufficient to reject these bills.
2.
Counseling
to families to “increase the interval between pregnancy” – a government
bureaucrat will tell you how and when to plan your family and whether you
should have children.
3.
Mandatory
“end of life” counseling every five years – there is no doubt that many aged
and ill patients will be encouraged to end their life early rather than
receive treatment.
4.
An agency
will determine the kinds and amount of care to be provided based on a
person’s age and condition – the cost of life years will be determined by
establishing protocols that place a value of medical care in dollars to the
age and illness of a person.
5.
Healthcare
will be rationed.
6.
The
quality of healthcare will decrease.
7.
Although
not a single-payer system, the current government plan is a big step towards
a single-payer system because at or near the fifth year of operation many
people will have been forced to take the government plan.
HR 3200 IS Morally Bankrupt and Unamerican!
An alternative is HR 3400 which is called Empowering Patients First Act.
This bill is simple, does not fund abortion, adds nothing to the debt and
builds on the current system.
1.
This bill
assures full access to coverage.
2.
It
increases our freedom to choose the HealthCare plan that best suits their
needs.
3.
This bill
reduces barriers to healthcare for persons with pre-existing conditions.
4.
It
incorporates Tort Reform with the creation of special Health Courts.
Please take a few minutes to visit the Liberty Counsel Website (www.LC.org),
review HR 3200. Then write, call or e-mail your Congress Person and our
Senators.

UPDATED HEALTHCARE DEBATE
30 NOVEMBER 2009
On Saturday
the 21st of November, the U.S. Senate voted to move forward and
start debate on Senate bill #3590. Current healthcare costs are somewhat
over two trillion dollars per year. The true 10 year cost of the Senate
bill is 2.5 trillion dollars; not the advertised 1.2 trillion dollars. (www.cornyn.senate.gov)
This 2.5 trillion dollars will come from borrowed money, increased taxes and
a 500 billion dollar gutting of Medicare. Let us look at the wonder of this
bill (tongue in cheek).
1.
“Advance
Care Planning” (death panels) has been renamed “Shared Decision Making”.
2.
Due to a
large expansion of Medicaid significant costs are shifted to the States.
Got you again with increased State taxes.
3.
Cuts 500
billion from Medicare reducing services and access. Didn’t they say
something about improving access and keeping your doctor?
4.
Establishes an “Independent Medicare Advisory Board” to reduce spending, in
effect a “Rationing Commission”.
5.
Physicians
treating Medicare patients face a 21% pay cut the 1st of January
2010 if the SGR (sustained growth rate) is not fixed. Fixing this only
keeps our pay where it was in 2009, it is not a raise!
6.
This bill
provides for 500 billion in new taxes (not just on the rich).
7.
The
Governments own analysis of this bill says that insurance premiums and
overall health costs will rise. Didn’t they say something about reducing
costs?
8.
There will
be a Government run plan. Over time (5 years) that is where we are all
headed if we do not stop this craziness.
9.
This bill
authorizes the use of taxpayer dollars to fund abortions. Since when has
the killing of unborn persons been healthcare?
Please keep pressure on your Representative and our Senators (both Senators
Cornyn and Hutchison oppose these bills) to defeat this massive takeover of
17% of the economy. Free Enterprise produced the wealthiest, most powerful
and technologically advanced country in the world. Do not allow this baby
and bathwater approach (throwing out what is mostly good with the little
bad). Stand up and be heard not only for your good but the coming
generations. This could well be the issue that plunges America into deep
depression, even insolvency. Stand up for life, liberty and the pursuit of
happiness.
