THE TRUTH
FOR AMERICA - WISDOM
April

David R. Wood
Grace and peace be multiplied unto our partners and friends in the name of
our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The Lord has impressed upon me to write
this month about Wisdom. If there was ever a time for Wisdom in America it
is now. Although to be very honest with you we have needed Wisdom in
America from the very first day of this Republic. The more I study and
think about America and our founding I find that we have wandered very far
from our foundation. If you look at the Church you will find that she has
also wandered very far from the foundation. When the Church wandered from
her founding document (Scripture) this Republic has wondered from her
founding and guiding documents. The founding documents of this Republic are
based on Holy Scripture, so is it any wonder that the nation has wandered
astray? Who are the final guardians of this great republic? WE THE
PEOPLE!
I want to again sound a warning, an admonition to the Church. You must
awake, especially the Pastors must awake. We, the Church, belong in the
public square. Our primary job is not to get people saved so we can all go
to Heaven. No, No, No! The mandate of God has never changed, not since the
7th day of creation.
Genesis 1:26-28 (KJV)
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our
likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and
over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth,
and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of
God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful,
and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion
over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every
living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Genesis 2:15-17 (KJV)
15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of
Eden to dress it and to keep it.
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of
the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou
shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt
surely die.
God gave us, man, dominion in all the earth, He empowered or anointed us
(blessed) and said we were to be fruitful, multiply, replenish and subdue
the earth. We were to take care of our land and guard it. And we were
never to mix good and evil. That is still the command of God.
The devil over time has convinced the Church that our activities are to be
confined to our Churches and our homes and no where else. The devil has
convinced the world that a Bible on our desk at work, religious speech in
public or a prayer in the name of Jesus violates their rights. Or we could
say the rights of the devil since by extension he is their father. Well
what about the salt (Matthew 5:13) and light (Acts 13:47) thing? Wake up
America! Jesus did not come and die so that we could round up a bunch of
people to go to Heaven. While in the meantime we are all broke, sick and
hiding in our caves. The evangelizing of the lost is certainly a very
important part but the Father sent Jesus so that He through us could reclaim
the earth and spoil (make absolutely destitute) the enemy. Well, to do that
you must engage in the public square and in your sphere of influence. The
Scripture says that Wisdom has established her seven pillars.
Proverbs 9:1 (KJV)
1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven
pillars:
These seven pillars or mountains are as follows: 1. the Church,
2. Media, 3. Education/Science/Medicine, 4. Business/Finance,
5. Family, 6. Sports/Entertainment/Arts and 7. Government.
The Church is to be preeminent or occupy the highest place among the seven
pillars or mountains. The Church in early America was a primary place of
education about all areas of religion, life and the government. Think about
ancient Israel. Where was Wisdom dispensed? It was dispensed from the Church
(Tabernacle, Temple, and Synagogue). Well what do we do now? We get back
to the Bible, the full counsel of God in the Church and in the public square
we get back to the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the
United States of America, and the Northwest Ordnance. Of course, there are
many other documents along with these that demonstrate very clearly that the
American nation is founded squarely on the Word of God. We have a
government of the people by the people. The just powers of government are
derived from the people and are based on nature’s law or the law of natures
God. You may hear the term Natural Law. All of these terms are talking
about the same thing. People have been made in the “image and likeness” of
the Creator and as such share in His nature. As a result we have many
inalienable rights among which are life, liberty and the pursuit of
happiness. You will recognize that as from the Declaration of Independence.
So what is Wisdom? Here are two key aspects taken from the American
Dictionary of the English Language by Noah Webster, 1828.
1.
The right use or exercise or knowledge; the choice of laudable ends, and of
the best means to accomplish them.
2.
Wisdom is true religion; godliness; piety; the knowledge and fear of God,
and sincere and uniform obedience to his commands.
Could we say that Wisdom is to honor God in all our ways? Remember;
Proverbs 14:12 (KJV)
12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end
thereof are the ways of death.
We hear that “I just want to help people” or “the end justifies the means”.
According to the Word of God both of those statements are poppycock. We can
help people and we can have a God honoring end but we must do it His way,
according to His Word. That of course takes diligence to know the Word of
God. Likewise in our government we must look at the problem, decide whose
jurisdiction it falls under and address it from that foundation. The
founders of this great nation would be appalled to look at the Federal
Government today and how it has expanded from the original intent of dealing
the foreign affairs and regulating commerce among the states and foreign
powers.
We stand at the edge of Socialism which will lead to the loss of freedom and
free enterprise. It could lead to the loss of the most important right of
all which is the right to own property. The Bible is clear we are to occupy
land and that land is to belong to the person who occupies the land.
Socialism is when the government controls the resources (coal oil, farms,
etc), the means to develop the resources (factories etc) and the means of
distribution (planes, trains, trucking, etc). Where are all of these
wonderfully successful socialistic countries? They have failed, teeter on
bankruptcy, have changed governments many times and are marginal powers in
the earth. Yet this is the direction our government is plunging at an
amazing speed. America became the most powerful economy the earth has ever
seen and the undisputed military superpower because of our form of
government. A government that had a moral and religious people and those
people had the right to property and could develop the property. They had
the right to conduct business with minimal interference from the Federal
government but that has been and is changing at an accelerating speed.
Remember what Wisdom is; review the definition I gave above from the Noah
Webster 1828 Dictionary. In a word, Wisdom is the Word of God.
Proverbs 4:7-9 (KJV)
7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get
wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
8 Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to
honour, when thou dost embrace her.
9 She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of
glory shall she deliver to thee.
Our founding documents are established in the Word of God. All that you see
government of any level propose; compare it to the Word of God and to the
founding documents and it should not be crossways of either.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)
5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine
own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Pastors you have a very important role to play in the reality of the
following passages. Be that watchman that God has ordained you to be in
this Kingdom of God. If you don’t have the facts get them! Today it is
only me in your face, one day it will be Jesus.
Proverbs 1:20-24 (TLB)
20 Wisdom shouts in the streets for a hearing.
21 She calls out to the crowds along Main Street, and to the
judges in their courts, and to everyone in all the land:
22 "You simpletons!" she cries. "How long will you go on being
fools? How long will you scoff at wisdom and fight the facts?
23 Come here and listen to me! I'll pour out the spirit of wisdom
upon you and make you wise.
24 I have called you so often, but still you won't come. I have
pleaded, but all in vain.
I love you all, until next month;
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto
thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee
peace.
