FOR THE SAKE OF ZION, FOR THE SAKE OF JERUSALEM

 By Dr. David R. Wood

We here at Eastern Gate Ministries International Incorporated greet all of our partners and friends in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.  God bless every one of you that take the time to come to this website and read these articles.  And I praise God all the more for those of you that take a moment to tell me that you have read it and it has encouraged, strengthened and enlightened you.  To God be all the glory.  God gets all the glory, as it is from God that all revelation flows.  Praise His name!   We will continue this month to pour forth the anointed Word of God (rhema) as to why we pray for, support (money and stuff) and stand solidly with Jerusalem, the Jewish people and Israel.  We, the Church must not allow America, at least as long as we, the Church are on the earth to be one of those cut to pieces because we do not take God’s view.

Zechariah 12:2-3 (KJV)
2 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.
3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.

Remember Pastors and dear saints of God that we are one with the Jews in Christ Jesus.  To ignore this fact is like a man looking at his body and saying “oh, I will take good care of my right arm but what does my left arm have to do with me.”  Remember, no Jew, no Christian.  The Jews can stand alone but we are partakers of their Spiritual things and are therefore indebted to them.

Ephesians 2:12-16 (KJV)
12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

This year in this series, I have spoken of God’s command that we pray for the peace of Jerusalem.  This is not optional.  To not pray for Jerusalem is a sin.  It is rebellion against God.  You will remember how the 122nd Psalm is prophetic of the one new man spoken of in Ephesians just as the mixed multitude (Exodus 12:38) that came out of Egypt speaks of this one new man united in one by a Savior.  Let us review verse three one more time.

Psalms 122:3 (KJV)
3 Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact together:

The word Jerusalem is pleural speaking of Heavenly Jerusalem above our eternal home and Jerusalem below the eternal home of the Jews.  These two cities are a single city.  The word city is singular.  The phrase compact together means they are joined together.  How? In Christ Jesus!  Then we talked about not holding our peace for the sake of the Church, Israel or Jerusalem.  It is here we will pick up this month.

Isaiah 62:1 (KJV)
1 For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.

The word Zion in this verse can mean the Church Triumphant and or Israel and I believe here it is both.  For the sake of the Church and the sake of Israel and later in the verse we see Jerusalem we will not hold our peace.  This is not something we try.  That is we do not try to not hold our peace or we do not try to speak out and release our peace.  We must speak out and release our peace upon Israel and Jerusalem.  We must be prepared to speak out, to defend our left arm, to defend our brethren.  Does that mean we always think they are right or do the right thing, of course not, does that lessen our resolve on their behalf, of course not.  Jesus said my peace I leave unto you.

John 14:27 (KJV)
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Jesus did not leave us His peace just to make us feel better.  He left it so that we would use it to bring peace into other people’s lives.  It is a weapon for the Kingdom of God.  Remember that peace is prosperity, quietness, rest and to be set at one again.  We are to bring prosperity into people’s lives, in this case Israel and Jerusalem.  We are to declare the quietness or tranquility of that city and nation.  We are to assist them into the provision of God because we should be walking in the fullness of the rest or provision of God in every area of life.  Finally, we are to show them the way of Salvation, then they will be whole spirit, soul and body and to be one again with God.  Remember in the final windup all of Israel will be saved.  Our left arm is not going to be amputated; we are and will be a whole man.  The Scripture goes on to say “I will not rest,” Repeat that, declare unto God; I will not rest concerning Israel or Jerusalem.  When can we rest?  We can rest when righteousness goes forth.  What is that all about?  It is about Jesus the Messiah.  This will occur on The Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) not many years from now.

1 Corinthians 1:30 (KJV)
30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

When Jesus goes forth a second time to His people then we can rest.  However the fact of the matter is we will be with Him, what a deal, praise the Lord.  I am not talking about the Rapture (calling away of the Church) but the Second Coming of Christ and that is what Isaiah 62:1 is also making reference to as well.

Zechariah 14:4-5 (KJV)
4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.

Now let us examine Isaiah 62 a little further.

Isaiah 62:1 (KJV)
1 For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.

Notice that “the righteousness” or Jesus is going forth as brightness.  This is very important for it allows us to place it in time to be at the end of the Tribulation.  This is not the Rapture but the Second Coming.  At the calling away of the Church Jesus does not touch earth but at the Second Coming it is all about touching earth and setting up His kingdom followed by the 1000 year reign.  Let us review a couple of Scriptures that will unveil this reference to brightness.

Isaiah 66:15 (KJV)
15 For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.

Notice that Jesus will come “with fire”.  Notice the remainder of the verse is speaking of “a whirlwind”, “his anger”, “with fury” and his rebuke with flames of fire.”  Could this be the Gog Magog war spoken of in Ezekiel when God Himself will defend Israel?

Ezekiel 38:18-19 (KJV)
18 And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face.
19 For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel;

This will give you a little extra something to think about.  Let us move on.

2 Thessalonians 1:7-8 (KJV)
7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God
, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

I think you can clearly see the pattern here.  These Scriptures are all speaking of the same event, the same time period.

2 Thessalonians 2:8 (KJV)
8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

That verse is just the icing on the cake.  Now let us deal with the end phrase of Isaiah 62.

Isaiah 62:1 (KJV)
1 For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.

The Salvation of the Church, of Israel and of Jerusalem is all the same person; the Lord Jesus Christ!  What a deal, we are back to the one man reality.  What about the “lamp that burneth.”?  This is also our shared in common precious Lord, Jesus Christ.  The lamp that burneth came into view in Genesis.

Genesis 15:17 (KJV)
17 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.

The “burning lamp” here is The Seed, Jesus Christ.  Two people appeared to make covenant with Abram and they were the Holy Spirit (smoking furnace) and Jesus (burning lamp).  Also we find this burning lamp elsewhere, lets go look.

Revelation 21:23 (KJV)
23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

Perhaps you are saying, I don’t see anything about a burning lamp here.  Well that is because you have not looked and found Him.  The word light in the phrase “the Lamb is the light” means portable lamp.  Oh, praise God!  The Scripture is so wonderful!

In summary, we are one with the Jewish people, that nation and that holy city.  We have a duty, an obligation to speak up on their behalf and to release our God given peace to them.  Don’t worry there is lots more peace where that came from.  Freely you were given so freely give!  There is coming a day, soon, when Jesus will step out of Heaven on that beautiful white horse and the armies of Heaven with Him including us and the battle of Armageddon will be fought.  Perhaps as I mentioned previously this battle is also the one spoken of in Ezekiel.  In that day salvation will come to all of Israel.

Romans 11:26 (KJV)
26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

Zechariah 12:10 (KJV)
10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

What a wonderful time for all of Israel and we will be there to see it all.  Then their Savior and ours will come from the Mount of Olives across that Kidron Valley and enter the rebuilt Temple through the Eastern Gate!

Ezekiel 43:1-7 (KJV)
1 Afterward he brought me to the gate, even the gate that looketh toward the east:
2 And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east: and his voice was like a noise of many waters: and the earth shined with his glory.
3 And it was according to the appearance of the vision which I saw, even according to the vision that I saw when I came to destroy the city: and the visions were like the vision that I saw by the river Chebar; and I fell upon my face.
4 And the glory of the LORD came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect is toward the east.
5 So the spirit took me up, and brought me into the inner court; and, behold, the glory of the LORD filled the house.
6 And I heard him speaking unto me out of the house; and the man stood by me.
7 And he said unto me, Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever, and my holy name, shall the house of Israel no more defile, neither they, nor their kings, by their whoredom, nor by the carcases of their kings in their high places.

Much more can be said in this area but I leave it here and let your spiritual digestive juices work and assimilate this information.  Pastors if you are not teaching this in your Church, repent and go forward from here.

Until next time:

RECEIVE THE BLESSING

Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
