The Light

Dr David Wood
THE LIGHT
ARE YOU NAKED? – PART ELEVEN
OR, I AM FULLY CLOTHED AND ARMOURED!
We send
greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. America’s oldest
Holiday is behind and Christmas lies before us. Of course, the birth of Jesus
preceded the American nation but in terms of declared holidays in America
Thanksgiving is the oldest. I tell you, we ate as much as we could then a
little more. Of course, I know that all of you exercised perfect restraint. If
you E-mail us I will pray for your lying problem. This is such a wonderful time
of year, the weather here in south Texas is near perfect. We have Thanksgiving
behind us which gave us opportunity to pause and recognize and acknowledge God
in our affairs. If it were not for Him we would have nothing and have been
buried long ago.
John 10:10 (KJV)
10 The thief cometh not, but for to
steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and
that they might have it more abundantly.
Christmas lies
ahead when we can give to one another, really only symbolic of what the Father
through Jesus has done for us. We can remember that a Savior has come and His
name is Jesus and He really is the reason for the season not Saint Nick or any
other personality. It is not by accident that Christmas is associated with the
giving of gifts. Giving is of God. The thief has nothing to do with giving.
John 3:16 (KJV)
16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life.
Of note, in
the November 3rd elections the State of Maine was the thirty-first
State to overturn a same-sex marriage or Union law passed by the legislature and
signed by the Governor. So far it is 31 to 0 when the people vote if marriage
is between a man and a woman or between two men or two women. The marriage of
Genesis between a man and a woman and reaffirmed by Jesus in Matthew 19:5 wins
every time.
This is the
final teaching on the clothing and armour of God. I would appreciate your
comments on this series. Recall at salvation God clothed us with the garments
of salvation and the robe of righteousness.
Isaiah 61:10
(KJV)
10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my
God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me
with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with
ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
We have also
been given command to put on various other pieces of clothing. Really these
other pieces equip us for our work here on the earth with an enemy. First we
talked about putting on humility. Humility puts us in a position of great power
and pride puts us in a position of great weakness.
1 Peter 5:5 (KJV)
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all
of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God
resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
We have put on
the light. God is light (1 John 1:5) and Jesus is the light of the world (John
8:12). When we are in the light it is armour to us. It puts us in fellowship
with God and the household of faith. Light provides revelation. And light
places us in the same place as Adam before sin but in Christ. Oh, what a
place! Thank you Jesus!
We are
anointed by God of the Holy Spirit. Your anointing does not come by way of a
man but from God and God alone (2 Corinthians 1:21). You can grow in your
anointing in the company of other anointed persons. We can be filled and
covered by the person of the Holy Spirit, the third person of the trinity. The
Holy Spirit cleanses us, teaches us, leads us and empowers us. What a deal.
We are
instructed to put on love (King James word charity).
Colossians
3:14 (KJV)
14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the
bond of perfectness.
The
“perfectness” referred to here is maturity. In other words when you walk in
love you have come to maturity and that is the mark of maturity. Faith works by
love (Galatians 5:6), faith is the only way to please God (Hebrews 11:6) and
faith is what gives us the victory (1 John 5:4).
That brought
us to the putting on of Christ.
Romans 13:14
(KJV)
14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for
the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
The flesh is
what gets us in trouble just as it did Eve. We are to make no provision of that
part of us. We are to live led of the spirit (Romans 8:14). When you put on
the Lord Jesus Christ you accept what was accomplished by His broken body and
His pure shed blood. We declare His as Lord, the boss of us. He is Jesus, the
second person of the trinity and we seek to be as He is in all respects as dear
children. In fact 1 John 4:17 makes an astonishing pronouncement.
1 John 4:17
(KJV)
17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the
day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
Wow!
When we put on
the Lord Jesus Christ we receive Him as Messiah, our Savior and we accept the
work of His Holy Spirit to quicken us, to fill us and cover us for our work in
the earth and beyond.
We are to put
on these five pieces of clothing which speaks of the five fold ministry of the
Holy Spirit. When we put these on we can do anything.
This brings us
to the armour of God. We have with the help of God wrapped ourselves about in
the truth which is the Word, the Holy Spirit and love. We have on the
breastplate of righteousness. This breastplate declares that we are righteous
and as such are in the light walking in dominion and power, walking in
revelation knowledge and walking in fellowship with the Godhead. The fire of
the Holy Spirit is continuously cleansing us, teaching us, leading us, and
bringing us to completion, into prosperity and by the blood causing us to be
innocent. Praise the Lord. We have the gospel of peace or we could say the
good news of wholeness. The shield of faith is ours separating us from the
wiles of the devil as we adhere to, remain persuaded of, have confidence in and
rely upon the gospel system of Truth. Praise the Lord. We have also taken to
ourselves the helmet of salvation. This helmet is the hope of salvation. Hope
is the earnest expectation of the imminent manifestation of all the promises of
God. No hidden doubt. Salvation in its completion involves the glorification
(again) of this body.
Romans 8:23
(KJV)
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the
firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for
the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
Now let us
move to the final piece of armour, the sword of the Spirit.
Ephesians 6:17
(KJV)
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit,
which is the word of God:
The word of
God is the way that we bring all good things into our lives.
Hebrews 11:3
(KJV)
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word
of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Just as God
framed this world, made Adam and placed him in the garden of Eden and gave him
every tool to make the whole earth a garden of Eden so in Christ we have the
same ability.
Joel 2:3 (KJV)
3 A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the
land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a
desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.
Ezekiel
36:35-36 (KJV)
35 And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like
the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are
become fenced, and are inhabited.
36 Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I
the LORD build the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate: I the
LORD have spoken it, and I will do it.
This is a
picture of what God has for us to do, get ready and do it in Jesus name.
The word of
God is the highest authority, the most powerful words in the earth.
Psalms 138:2
(KJV)
2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy
lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all
thy name.
Jeremiah
1:9-10 (KJV)
9 Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the
LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
10 See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the
kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to
build, and to plant.
Jeremiah 1:12
(KJV)
12 Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will
hasten my word to perform it.
We need to
seek to be as proficient as Jesus was with the Word of God. Remember in the
wilderness when Satan came to test Him he used the Word of God and the devil
departed from Him. He did not wail, whine, call for the Pastor or cry for the
Father to get the devil off of Him, He confronted the devil with the Word of
God.
Luke 4:4 (KJV)
4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It
is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
Luke 4:8 (KJV)
8 And Jesus answered and said unto him,
Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou
shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Luke 4:12-13 (KJV)
12 And Jesus answering said unto him,
It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from
him for a season.
You see what
Jesus did; it will work for you and I just as well.
James 4:7 (KJV)
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will
flee from you.
Now before we
conclude this study I want to point out to you that this is all consolidated by
praying in the spirit.
Ephesians 6:18
(KJV)
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the
Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for
all saints;
So there is no
confusion Paul is talking about tongues our heavenly language.
I trust this
study has blessed you as much as preparing it has blessed me. Until next year
count it all joy when temptations come (James 1:2). I am not crazy for this is
an opportunity to reverse the curse, create the garden of Eden before you and
send the devil running yet one more time.
